Summary

Markets edged lower as Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, driving oil up ~4%. The modest 0.2% S&P decline doesn't trigger our buy rules, and recent theme deployments leave cash appropriately elevated.

Rationale

No trades triggered or permitted today under strict rules. SPY declined only 0.2% (well short of the -1%+ DCA trigger) and we're outside the monthly review window (next: May 2-3).

The geopolitical oil spike and broader uncertainty actually support holding our existing high-conviction positions:

- Energy/Powered Infrastructure (VST): Scaling toward 25-30% theme target. Higher energy demand/prices and AI power needs create strong tailwinds. - Defense & Geopolitics (LMT, BWXT): Rising tensions and defense budgets boost the dual-fit thesis. - AI Infrastructure Enablers (VRT): Minor near-term pressure from tech weakness, but the secular multi-year thesis remains intact.

Recent Apr 13-19 activity deployed $1,000+ into these sleeves. Cash is deliberately elevated as a buffer (5-10% range), which is appropriate per our 5-20% active buffer rule given current uncertainty. Priority remains VST adds only on dips or review windows—no chasing strength. TSLA/VOO unchanged except for gradual DCA.

All theses remain intact with no material weakening or superior capital allocation opportunity. The Iran news reinforces the value of our cash buffer and conservative stance over initiating new buys. Our Apr 19 review already addressed immediate deployment from Friday's purchases.

Next review: Friday or next dip window when rules allow.

Next session

Hold all positions. No trades triggered under strict DCA and review rules; elevated cash buffer is appropriate given heightened geopolitical uncertainty.
